Bygone Times Host the Annual Steampunk Social!

Bygone Times were absolutely delighted to welcome over 100 Steampunk enthusiasts from across the whole country on Saturday 8th of November!

Hosting the Steampunk Social Annual meet-up for the North-West of England, Steampunk enthusiasts braved the Lancashire chill and embraced Bygone Times’ magical mystique as they enjoyed The Cotton Café, chatted with friends, made new friends and enjoyed a wonderful photoshoot in the garden centre!

A fascinating blend of fashion, art and interior design, the visiting Steampunk annual meetup was a creative feast for the eyes as enthusiasts donned corsets, petticoats, frock coats, waist coats, top hats, and brass goggles, celebrating influences from Victorian style and industrial mechanics.

As you can imagine, Bygone Times’ 17th century venue, awash with retro, vintage and collectables, served as the perfect backdrop for the quirky and charismatic Steampunk visitors.

We would like to thank every Steampunk enthusiast that visited and embraced Bygone Times with open arms!

What is Steampunk?

An engaging, uniquely creative subculture, aesthetic and subgenre of science fiction, Steampunk blends the Victorian era (steam), with the fanatical and speculative allure of science fiction (punk), creating something truly unique and magical!

A literary term coined and subculture created in the 1980s as a playful contrast to cyberpunk, Steampunk reimagines history. Usually set in the British Victorian era, Steampunk pretends that innovations such as the combustion engine and modern computers were not invented, and humanity advanced utilising steam power, cogs, gears, clockwork and brass machinery.
