With old souls and new screens, Bygone Times has launched its TikTok profile to help users discover timeless style in the digital age.
There’s no question that Bygone Times, Lancashire’s leading antiques centre based in the historic 17th century Grove Mill, bears a magical mystique that’s instantly experienced when you step through our welcoming front doors.
From the scent of polished oak and the tactile weight of an early 20th century typewriter to the thrill of discovering a mid-century armchair that’s straight from the movies, Bygone Times has long been a sanctuary for collectors, history buffs (see our Tank!) and Lancastrians that value quality and timeless style.
But Bygone Times are opening in a new window into our work with its TikTok profile. A magnificent vehicle and creative space for marketing, content and discovery, TikTok offers Gen Z and millennial users a unique perspective of Bygone Times.
Bygone Times is for every generation
The home to over 500 independent stallholders and local businesses from across the North-West, Bygone Times offers a creative and immersive journey into history. Although our long, creaky corridors are regularly frequented by younger visitors and families, there is a misconception that antiques are just for the older generations.
However, by just quickly delving into social media feeds, reels and trends, you’ll know that antiques are resonating with the younger generations, from the brooding insanity of bookish dark academia to the curated layers of cluttercore, illustrating a huge revival in vintage living.
Why TikTok is Perfect for Bygone Times
Our assistant manager and social media manager said: “We’re hoping that by leveraging such a creative, accessible tool we’re able to drive even more younger audiences to Bygone Times. By reaching younger TikTok users that may not be aware of our antiques centre, we want to help keep high-quality antiques, vintage and collectables alive for generations to come.”
“TikTok isn’t just dance trends. It’s about creating an atmosphere that truly shows how unique Bygone Times is. Whether it’s funny clips, memes, trends, spooky videos and historical products and materials, we will tap into everything possible to create engaging content that entertains and attracts new customers and sellers.”
She added: “There’s something for everyone at Bygone Times!”
From atmospheric clips, antique hauls and styling tips that tap into contemporary trends and culture we’re confident our creative workforce and team can encapsulate the ‘hidden gem’ nature of our 85,000 square-foot centre.
The Perfect Backdrop for TikTok Creators
Bygone Times believe that Lancashire is brimming with creative talent, and we want to be your canvas. With our long winding corridors, historic cobbles and endless rows of antiques, vintage and collectables, we believe that, despite everything our lovely county has to offer, the Grove Mill is the most TikTok-able location in Lancashire!
Whether you’re an influencer or creator in the making, interior styles, movie buff or history lover ,Bygone Times are encouraging everyone to visit our home and discover why “old” is the new “new”!
Why Bygone Times is popular with younger generations
For those under 35, Bygone Times is quickly becoming one of the coolest Lancastrian destinations for locals and tourists alike. A far-cry from fast fashion and mass-produced clutter, Bygone Times are attracting Gen Z and millennials for reasons that are practical, ethical and aesthetic.
Built To Last
For young homeowners and those purchasing property for the first time, Bygone Times offers reliability and durability, with tried-and-tested furniture items like chairs, tables, chests and wardrobes that are engineered to last a lifetime.
Sustainability
There’s no doubt that the younger generations are increasingly eco-conscious, and for many, “new” isn’t essential. Reusability is a positive thing, and with high-quality furniture items and antiques that deserve a second life, there’s zero-carbon footprint. As demonstrated by popular phenomena like Vinted, the circular economy is in-part powered by younger generations that are actively reducing waste and choosing pre-oved items.
Homes with Soul
With TikTok and Instagram trends moving away from the plain, all-white-or-grey minimalist look, in 2026, it’s all about eclectic maximalism and decorating with character, such as adding a little French accent to your home or building the ultimate man-cave!
Bygone Times gives young homeowners the opportunity to decree, “nobody else has this!”
